Talk About your Daily Routine in Russian

Practical Conversation in Russian - Talk about your daily routine in Russian - In the morning

Example 1: Ekaterina – Worker with a dog

On working days my alarm clock wakes me up around 7am and the day begins. I get up and go to the bathroom where I wash my face, brush my teeth and take a shower. After this, I get dressed, dry my hair, and make my bed. Before leaving I usually eat a bowl of kasha* and drink a cup of tea. While I eat breakfast I look through the news on the internet. Then, I feed my dog, get my keys and head out. The majority of the time I go to work by car, but if there is a lot of traffic I go to work by foot. The road to the office takes 10 minutes by car, but 30 minutes by foot.

Example 2: Nastya – Worker with children

During the work week I have to wake up at 6:30am in order to have time to do everything. However, I’m an early riser so it’s not a problem for me. After the alarm clock goes off I turn it off and then lie in bed for a little bit more. Then, I wake up my children and go to the kitchen where I make and drink coffee. After this, I return to my room, wash up, and change from my pajamas into my work uniform. If I have enough time, I put on make up and do a hairdo.

Example 3: Igor – Student

Every new day is similar to the last – I get up before sunrise and I get ready for the day. I begin my day early in the morning, but honestly it’s hard for me to get out of bed at such an hour, especially in the winter. In order to wake up I train for 30 minutes and then I meditate for at least 10 minutes. Then, I take a shower and shave. After I put on my school uniform, I comb my hair and go to eat breakfast. My whole family and I sit down to eat breakfast every morning. Then, my mom drives me to school. It takes 15 minutes to get to school.

Practical Conversation in Russian - Talk about your daily routine in Russian - In the afternoon

Example 1: Ekaterina – Worker with a dog

I work from 8am to 5pm, and I spend a large part of the day in the office. I’m in charge of the recruiting team, and my main job is to hire people. During the working day, I place vacancies and conduct interviews. When the work day ends, I leave work, unless my boss wants me to work overtime. After work, I either go home or I go to a dance class. If there’s no traffic, then I stop by the supermarket on my way home.

Example 2: Nastya – Worker with children

My work day is the same as everyone else’s – answering e-mails, phone calls, meetings with clients. For the last three years, I’ve been working full-time as a sales manager, and I love my job. The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes I have to deal with client complaints. I usually leave work at 5:00, go for the kids, and pick them up at 5:30.

Example 3: Igor – Student

Usually I usually have three or four classes a day that last until four o’clock. In classes I listen to the teacher and take notes. Weekdays are very full of work, but fortunately I have a few short breaks during which I can drink coffee or warm up lunch. After my classes I do homework. It usually takes me 3 hours. After school, I go to volleyball practice for our university’s team.

Practical Conversation in Russian - Talk about your daily routine in Russian - In the evening

Example 1: Ekaterina – Worker with a dog

After I come home from work, I walk the dog first. As soon as we get back from the walk, I feed the dog and start making myself dinner. In the evenings, I either enjoy visiting friends or spending time reading books. Once a week I have to do the laundry and do the housework. As a rule, I check my e-mails and prepare for the next day. Then I like to fill the bathtub, light candles, put on a podcast and relax. When it gets late, I get ready for bed, and I go to bed around midnight.

Example 2: Nastya – Worker with children

I usually get home at ten to six, and then I go make dinner. As I cook, I help the kids do their homework. After dinner, we gather in the living room and watch some cartoons. By 9:00, it’s time for the kids to go to bed. I put the kids to bed, I say good night, and I go to the kitchen to pack them lunch for the next day. Then I go to my room and change. Before I go to sleep, I read a little to relax after a busy day. I go to sleep very quickly. The next day, it’s repeats all over again.

Example 3: Igor – Student

After practice, I usually come home at 5:30, study, and then I spend the rest of the evening relaxing. In the evenings, I like to play guitar or watch videos on YouTube. The best part of my day is the evening when I sit by the TV for a little bit. Out of my entire family I go to sleep last since I stay up late. I never go to bed before 1:00 in the morning. When I feel tired, I wash up and brush my teeth. Before I go to bed, I often write in my diary.
