Learn the Russian alphabet

Master The Russian Alphabet: Block and Cursive Letters

Hello everyone & welcome to my first Learn Russian guide! Today, we will be learning the Russian alphabet – both block and cursive letters – and its pronunciation. While online you will mostly see standard block letters, all Russian handwriting uses cursive letters, so it is critical you learn both.

There are a few nuances with Russian pronunciation, but for the most part, what you see is what you pronounce (i.e. words like “though” with unpronounced letters don’t exist in Russian! Woohoo!). Additionally, there are a few letters in the Russian alphabet that don’t have any sound on their own, but rather, they affect the pronunciation of other letters. Let’s check it out below!
