Since the USSR fell in 1991, Moldova has struggled to grow economically, however, in recent years, tourism has begun to flourish. With most sightseeing destinations just a few hours from its capital in Chisinau, it is super convenient to see a plethora of sights in a short amount of time. Moldova is a fantastic spot for travelers on a budget and history nerds like myself interested in seeing a young country blossom from its dark, Soviet past.
