+ откуда

• Ребёнок упа́л с каче́лей и уда́рился голово́й. – The kid fell off the swing and hit his head.
• Све́рху – from the top

• Они́ все упа́ли на ско́льзкой доро́ге. – They all fell on a slippery road.

4. нападать/напасть: attack, assault (+на что/кого, + с чем, +откуда)

+ на что/кого

• За́втра ве́чером солда́ты нападу́т на ю́жные грани́цы. – Tomorrow night soldier will attack the southern borders.
• На молоду́ю же́нщину напа́ли сза́ди. – They attacked the young woman from behind.
• Аку́лы обы́чно не напа́дают на люде́й. – Sharks don’t often attack people.

+ с чем

• С мечо́м – with a sword
• С пистоле́том – with a gun

5. впадать/впасть: to figuratively fall into (+куда), to flow into (+куда)

• У кого́-то вы́пали во́лосы. – Someone’s hair fell out.
• Сего́дня вы́пал пе́рвый снег. – The first snow fell today.

→ шанс – the chance, честь – the honor/privilege, уда́ча – good fortune, возмо́жность – the opportunity

• Ей вы́пал шанс нача́ть всё за́ново. – She had the chance to start everything over again.

7. отпадать/отпасть: to be abandoned, dropped, become unnecessary

→ необходи́мость – (no longer necessary), умесность (no longer relevant), вариа́нт – option

8. опадать/опасть: to fall away, crumble, wilt, peel (+с чего)

• Ка́ждой о́сенью листья с дере́вьев опада́ют. – Every autumn leaves fall from the trees.

14. западать/запасть: to fall back/behind, sink/drop (+куда); to fall for, fancy (+на кого)

+ куда

• Та фра́за запа́ла мне в голову. – That line stuck with me.
• Его́ слова́ запа́ли мне в па́мять. – His words stuck with me.

+ на кого

• Рома́н запа́л на Настю. – Roman has a crush on Nastya.
• Она́ всегда́ запада́ет на парне́й, кото́рые не хотя́т дете́й. – She always falls for guys who don’t want children.

15. спадать/спасть: to decrease in intensity, subside, die down, to go down, fall down from 

→ ве́тер – wind, шторм – storm, жара – heat, лихора́дка – fever, интере́с – interest, оптими́зм – optimism

• Пока скандал не спадает. – Until the scandal subsides.
• Эта штука, должно быть, неправильного размера потому что она постоянно спадает. – This thing must be the wrong size because it keeps falling off.
• Напряженность в районе постепенно спадает.- The tensions in the area have gradually subsided..
